Nobody taught him the same thing twice in a row. One month: patience. Take it slow. Let the work breathe. The next month: move. Don't waste a day. The window is closing. He received both lessons in full. He believed both of them completely. Eventually he stopped asking which one was right and started asking what was underneath the contradiction — and that is more or less where everything began.
His adult life has been spent watching optimization mechanisms run — in the markets first, then in software, now in language models. The pattern is consistent. When AI arrived, he recognized it immediately. Same problem. Different face. He noticed something in an article on a Sunday morning, gave it a word by Thursday, and built a place for the word to live before the next week was out. That word is tethered. This is the place.
Quality assurance is the discipline he has spent the most time in. QA is the practice of looking for the thing that does not behave the way it was supposed to — the failure mode that passed every test except the one that mattered. He applies it to everything. He cannot turn it off. ITETHERED is what QA looks like when it is pointed at the gap between what a technology was supposed to do and what it is actually doing to the people who use it.
